Microsoft Silverlight is an application framework for developing and running rich internet applications ( RIA ). The concept is similar to Adobe Flash in that the end user is required to download a plug-in for their browser in order to run the content. WPF is the father of Silverlight. The language is the same but the feature set is bigger and deployment is usually for desktop applications and not web browser.
